Licensed Care for Children, aged two years,
nine months to five years old

"GCCC's Day Care provides the children of working parents with quality care and preschool instruction. Without this type of service, at an affordable rate, many of these parents would not be able to maintain employment, and the children would lack the socialization and education that all children deserve."

Who We Serve
Day care is available for children from families who live or work in White Plains. Children range in age from two years, nine months to five years.

Why There Is a Need
The Day Care was originally established in 1981 in response to the needs of low-income working parents in the White Plains area who needed affordable childcare in order to work the long hours required to make ends meet. The need is even greater today as unemployment rates in Westchester County remain high and the cost of living continues to rise. Recent research indicates that a family of four living in Westchester requires an annual income of $40,164 to make ends meet, making it difficult for families to live comfortably even on two salaries, or with two or three jobs.

The Program
The GCCC Day Care provides working parents with a caring and safe learning environment for their children.  A key objective of the Day Care program is to ensure kindergarten readiness and a number of elementary schools in the district have repeatedly commended us on our success.

The facility has recently been renovated to provide airconditioning, elevator access to the second floor location and an additional classroom.

The Day Care is open from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday to Friday and can handle up to 29 children aged two years, nine months to five years.  Children are provided with a hot breakfast and two nutritious snacks with milk and juice each day. Children bring their own lunches.

The Day Care is licensed by the State of New York and is inspected annually. Teachers meet all requirements mandated by the State of New York and are fully qualified to provide an

enriching curriculum designed to encourage each child’s individual development and growth.

Volunteer services are an integral part of the Day Care program. Competent volunteers from Manhattanville College and IONA College have aided the staff in developing and maintaining its curriculum.

Tuition can be paid weekly or monthly (please contact the Director for current tuition). The Director works closely with families who have financial hardships and assists them in applying for financial subsidies from the Department of Social Services (DSS) if they are eligible.
