"Grace Church Community Center Day Care to Re-Open"

After 7 months of renovations, Grace Church Community Center Day Care is set to re-open the doors to a sparkling new facility on January 11th Registrations for children between the ages of 2 years nine months and 5 years are now being accepted by the new Day Care Coordinator, Tasha Pine..
Renovations to the facility, located in downtown White Plains in the parish hall at Grace Church (33 Church Street), have included the installation of air conditioning, elevator access to the second floor location and the addition of a third classroom. The Grace Church Community Center (GCCC) Soup Kitchen and Samaritan House women’s shelter, both located in the parish hall, have also been the beneficiaries of building renovations donated by developer Louis Cappelli.
The GCCC Day Care has been operating in White Plains for over 25 years. It was originally opened in response to the needs of low-income working parents in the White Plains area. Paul Anderson-Winchell, Executive Director of GCCC said, “The need is even greater today. The cost of living in Westchester County is so high that a lot of families are struggling to live comfortably even with two salaries coming in the door. Affordable, high quality day care is hard to find. We hope that the re-opening of this important service will help meet this vital need.”
GCCC’s goal is to m ake safe, quality, affordable day care available to families of all income levels ensuring that thy all have access to the same high standard of care for their children. The GCCC Day Care can accommodate up to 24 children. Hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. , five days a week. The Day Care is fully licensed by the State of New York and is conveniently located in the center of White Plains close to all major forms of transportation.

Grace Church Community Center is a non-sectarian, community-based 501 (c) (3) organization. It is one of the largest social services Westchester County and currently operates ten programs including shelters for men and women, summer camp and after-school mentoring programs for homeless and disadvantaged children, a soup kitchen, housing programs to prevent eviction and home healthcare for the elderly and disabled. Last year, GCCC assisted over 3,000 individuals and served almost 100,000 free meals through its various programs.
