"Peter Herrero from Sam's of Gedney Way Honored
At Open Arms Anniversary Party"

September 13 , 2005
Every Monday for more than 15 years, Peter Herrero, proprietor of Sam’s of Gedney Way restaurant, has donated trays of hot food to the Open Arms men’s shelter in White Plains; enough food to provide the shelter’s 38 homeless residents with one, and sometimes two, nutritious evening meals. On September 8th, at the Open Arms 16th Anniversary Dinner, Herrero was honored for his contributions with a plaque presented by John Rubin, Director of Shelter & Homeless Outreach Services for Grace Church Community Center which operates the shelter.
The Open Arms shelter and rehabilitative services program has been in operation since 1989 and provides a full range of services for single homeless men, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Last year, Open Arms assisted over 600 homeless men with more than 88,000 meals and 12,000 overnight stays.
