Who We Serve

The elderly and the disabled of Westchester
County.

Why There Is a Need
Many people in Westchester County live at home and simply do not have the capabilities to participate in all of the activities of daily life that most of us take for granted. Some are bedridden and others are homebound for various other reasons and need outside care in order to stay in their homes.

Statistics show that in 2002, 12% of all Westchester residents, and 34% of the County’s elderly, were disabled.

 The Program

Part of GCCC for over 20 years, Neighbors Home Care Services, is a New York State Licensed Home Care Services Agency (LHCSA) that provides customized programs for the elderly and disabled.

Fees are charged in accordance to the services provided. Consultation is free.

Our services include:

  • Personal Care/Home Health Care services designed to meet the needs of elderly individuals who are unable to care for themselves to enable them to live independently at home.
  • R.N. Assessment for clients procuring Home Health Care Services. This allows a Plan of Care to be developed with the participation of the attending physician.

  • Registered nursing which provides nursing supervision to routinely monitor client progress, intervention and reassurance.
  • Cluster Care–which enables all services to be provided to people living in isolated but common geographic areas.

  • EISEP (Expanded In-Home Services Program) for the elderly. Through a contract with the Westchester County Office of the Aging, EISEP enables Neighbors Home Care Services to provide a variety of services to needy elderly people in their homes.
  • Swab "Bath Time" Service to assist elderly clients, shut-ins and families who may be overwhelmed by the demands of caring for a relative.

  • Grocery Shopping/Errand Shopping–for our elderly clients.
  • Cleaning Service–Allows clients the opportunity to maintain their environment and enhance their independent lifestyles.
  • Telephone Reassurance–Provided by volunteers. Weekly telephone calls are made to reduce isolation and encourage socialization.

  • A Medical Equipment Bank–funded by individuals in the community which allow us to assist the elderly in need with hospital beds, wheelchairs, walkers, etc.
  • Participation in SOS (Seniors Outreach to Seniors) program by which seniors are encouraged to help each other.
  • "Learn at Lunch" gatherings on a variety of topics for well elderly and their caregivers.
