White Plains, NY - The White Plains Women's Club was the site of a July 12th event featuring local salons and spas as well as jewelry and beauty product vendors who joined together to raise funds to benefit the Samaritan House Women's Shelter in White Plains. Alicia Grande, member of the Women's Club and owner of GrandeLASH-MD was the host of the event.
Women from Samaritan House received free haircuts from John Picciano owner of Salon Flair, White Plains and Nick Trombetta owner of Salon Maffei, White Plains and makeovers by celebrity make -up artist Kelly Stirling.
The Women's Club of White Plains is dedicated to community service and volunteerism and, in the last five years alone has donated more than $100,000 to local charities in Westchester County, many of them benefitting women and children in need. The club is located in the former CV Rich Mansion at 305 Ridgeway Avenue in White Plains, NY.
About the Samaritan House
Samaritan House is a 19-bed women's shelter run by Grace Church Community Center a Westchester nonprofit social services agency that serves 3500 needy men, women and children each year. Samaritan House provides housing and rehabilitative services to single, homeless women, many of whom suffer from mental illness, substance abuse, domestic violence or are recently put of prison and on parole. Last year Samaritan House provided nearly 7,000 nights of shelter and 16,000 meals to 217 unduplicated homeless women.
